Classics

This collection brings together reinterpretations of famous works of art from the past. The drawings are presented untitled, so that it is the viewer who recognises — or tries to recognise — the reference work.

Each image is divided into two versions: positive and negative, following the double drawing technique. Under the FonTs signature, each plate bears a date in Roman numerals, which marks the day on which the work took shape, as a temporal seal.

The goal is not the simple quotation. Each work aims to suggest new perspectives, to reveal what remained implicit, hidden, forgotten in the original work. It is a rereading and, at the same time, a visual re-writing: an attempt to give classical opera a second life, through light and its absence, through inversion, transformation, doubt.
